Artist Storytelling: Artist Abigail Hunt commissioned to explore the programme
We are delighted to announce Abigail Hunt as the artist in residence for the Bristol + Bath Creative R+D programme. As the programme draws to a close, Abigail has been commissioned to look at the programme and make work in response. This will be presented in March 2023, when B+B R+D officially ends. Students from both UWE Bristol and Bath Spa will work with Abigail as she explores the themes and research produced over the 5 years of the programme.
The B+B R+D artist commission was created as part of our on-going efforts to engage wider audiences in our programme through a new creative work. Abigail will also engage in a creative learning programme connecting the region's arts schools, Bath Spa and UWE Bristol, and their students.
Abigail’s research-based art practice incorporates collage, sculpture, installation, social engagement and event-based performance, often creating structures, installations and environments that invite a response or involve a direct interaction with the audience. Her artworks hold the potential to become a site for exchange, exploration and the initiation of discussion, linking to a process, place or site, or a consideration of a space or situation.
Abigail’s processes are similar to that of understanding a new language, translating and reforming images, objects and experiences to consider and present new possibilities.
We will be telling the story of Abigail’s residency through a series of talks and publications and we look forward to welcoming you to experience the conclusions of the B+B R+D residency commission, next year.
